The world of beauty has seen an influx of products that prioritize focusing on consumers’ skin. The marketing strategy for products such as concealer, powder and foundation were aimed at “hiding” the skin’s imperfections but not anymore. More brands are starting to market the importance of “skin first” or “skin-like” products. For a brand like The Lip Bar, their latest launch, Fast Face Kits ($89.00), falls in line with other brands that are creating innovative products that actually work for the skin and not against it.
The Lip Bar has been around since 2012 and started off by creating vegan friendly lip products that have been worn by a myriad of people. The Lip Bar caters to those who don’t feel seen in the makeup community and now have their products featured in 450 Target locations around the country, not to mention a brick and mortar location in Detroit.
I’m probably the last person who needs to buy more foundation but I love a great beauty concept when I see one. Not to mention the Fast Face Kits launched two days after my birthday so I treated myself after my bills and savings were taken care of. It’s all about balance.
The things that drew me in to this foundation are the ingredients and applicator tip. While some people prefer to use beauty sponges to blend their foundation, some people prefer to use a face brush to apply and blend. The applicator tip features a system where a simple click produces product on the built in brush and all the wearer has to do is distribute the foundation on their face then blend it out.
I personally used to wear a TON of foundation when I was younger to hide my hyperpigmentation but not these days. If I wear foundation, I usually do one or two super small pumps of the Skin Serum Foundation to get the coverage I like. Also, with properties like hyaluronic acid and Irish sea moss extract, the skin is receiving skin boosting benefits at the same time. Since my skin didn’t start itching after wearing this foundation 3 days in a row for the past few weeks, I know it’s a keeper. (I still love my foundations by Range Beauty and Beauty Bakerie!)
Because I couldn’t purchase the entire Fast Face Kit, I opted to buy the Quick Draw 2in1 Brow Gel Pen ($14.00) in addition to the foundation. For a girl on the go, this foundation and eyebrow duo have me hooked. I will say that before applying my makeup I’ve been using the Natural State of Mind Butter to moisturize, the Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer to prime, the Live Tinted Huestick to color correct and The Crayon Case Chalk Dust Setting Powder to set everything in place. This prep work takes about 3 minutes then I apply The Lip Bar Skin Serum Foundation + Eyebrow gel/pencil, Milani Supreme Kohl Kajal Eyeliner + Highly Rated 10-in-1 Volume Mascara and one of my favorite brown girl friendly lip combos. (see below). This takes about an extra 5-7 minutes.
