The Top 3 Looks From the 65th Annual Grammy’s

While awards shows are something entertainers and viewers look forward to, there’s no denying the sway the red carpet holds. In fact, one could even argue that it serves as its own individual spectacle. As celebrities begin arriving to the venue, paparazzi waits in anticipation to see what pieces they’ve adorned themselves in.

Admittedly, I love watching awards shows but not as much as I love seeing fashion stylists’ work shine via their clients. It’s a moment where I get to see if the stylist has a good understanding of their client and if both are willing to push boundaries if the moment calls for it. The looks I’ve rounded up below indicate everyone understood their assignment.

doja cat

Styled by Brett Alan Nelson, who adorned her in a black vinyl Atelier Versace gown, Doja Cat’s striking look accomplished what it intended to. If you’re familiar with Doja Cat’s recent looks, you can see that both the artist and stylist are unafraid to use fashion as an extension of her personality. Particularly, last night’s look is reminiscent of a Dominatrix but manages to exude a posh appeal.

janelle monae

Janelle Monae looked like a dream while wearing custom Vera Wang. Her stylist, Alexandra Mandelkorn, adorned her in a “black wool felt sleeveless top with a sculptural peplum and black crinkle silk chiffon skirt.” Not one to shy away from wearing things that make her feel free, this look was fitting for the star.

lizzo

Although some may not be a fan of the talented artist wearing Dolce & Gabbana due controversy surrounding the fashion house, it’s hard to detract from the way stylist Patti Wilson adorned her in a gown and cape that seems to capture her essence. In terms of color psychology, orange symbolizes optimism and positivity, which, again, is everything Lizzo stands for.

By no means is this an exhaustive list of all of the looks I enjoyed but there was something about the above styles I seemed to connect with. If you enjoyed this roundup, be sure to stay tuned because more reviews and conversations about fashion will be coming up!
